The Addams Family

Why see The Addams Family?

They're Creepy and they're Kooky... The Addams Family

Everyone's favorite weird neighbours are moving in and bringing along a madcap musical adventure to venues across the UK on tour this summer and autumn! From the Tony-nominated creative team behind Jersey Boys, The Addams Family distills the morbid magic of Charles Addams' beloved cartoons, adding a toe-tapping score, ghoulish song-and-dance numbers and hilarious moments into the mix with highly entertaining results.

What is the story?

Time marches on - Wednesday and Pugsley are growing up, Morticia comes face to face with her mortality and a radical new romance threatens to stir the cauldron! The story opens with the death-obsessed family in crisis. The once crossbow-wielding Wednesday has fallen in love with a nice boy from a nice family, and unbeknownst to Gomez and Morticia, the young paramours plan to get hitched. Cue an awkward dinner in which two very different families meet for the first time, beset by mischief, mayhem and the eccentric Uncle Fester who's just declared his undying love for the moon...

A good pilot

Cost of ticket £45. Front stalls. The casting of the actors were spot on, costumes just right. Lyrics and music, clearly spoken and fun. Obviously if it goes further the atmosphere using the set would be sorted, as a little minimal at the moment. Wednesdays songs went on a too long. I think it would make a fantastic pantomime with more innuendos, and funny slip-ups! It’s not aimed at young children at the moment. It could have lighter scenes. Morticia could glide in perhaps? It needs to be a little more fun to watch. I would watch again, after some tweaks. ... Read more

Addams Family

A definite hit . The sets are very good and the music befits the West End stage, where I believe this is eventually headed. The singing was excellent and , unlike many musicals, every word could be heard. the show certainly has its laugh out loud moments. I will criticise only two things within the script: one relating to rich Jewish people in Florida and another relating and the other regarding Jehovah Witnesses. Both unnecessary in my opinion and I am surprised they have not been removed. However, it did not put me off enjoying what is, in essence, an excellent couple of hours. Every seat in the Churchill Theatre Bromley offers a good view of the stage: although the very top of a couple of sets are obscured by the huge "A" used at different points. The seats are spacious and comfortable and there is plenty of room between rows. If you opt for the Circle , no one obscures your view. ... Read more
