Magical
I was lucky enough to see the replacement Cinderella early in the run, and am writing this review to acknowledge her sensitive and magical portrayal of Cinderella. It must be galling to do all of that work and then not feature in any of the reviews. Well, I would just like to say how much I enjoyed all of the performance, I loved the costumes, music, lighting and puppetry. I loved the evil ugly sister (I really identified with her!) and charted every time that buttercup the horse appeared.. very clever! But off course it was Cinderella that I had gone to see, and having seen it earlier in the year in London and been bitterly disappointed, I had my fingers crossed for something that more closely matched my childhood vision of the rags to riches story. I was certainly not disappointed. She was vulnerable but self assured, sensitive but proactive, everything that a fairytale heroine should be. In short, I’m sure that the current lead is doing a fabulous job, but please don’t forget the Cinderella who stepped in at the last minute to make our dreams come true. She was exquisite.
