A Knight to remember!

Sword fights, swagger, romance and just the right amount of silliness! A Knight's Tale is galloping to the Manchester Opera House on April 11, 2025 - ladies and lords, are you ready?

Brought to you by Runaway Entertainment, this new musical adaptation of the 2001 film is directed by Rachel Kavanagh, choreography by the award-winning Matt Cole, and a book adapted by the hilarious Brona C. Titley. Titley herself describes the show as "a sexy, silly, jousty, dancey, romance-y, musical extravaganza". We're polishing our armour in excitement.

What's The Story?

If you've somehow missed the cult classic film, A Knight's Tale tells the rags-to-riches tale of William Thatcher, a humble squire who dares to dream of knighthood. When his master dies suddenly, William dons the armour himself and enters the jousting circuit - pretending to be a nobleman and rewriting his destiny one tournament at a time.

A delightfully scrappy crew backs him: his loyal pals Roland and Wat, a female blacksmith with serious skills, and none other than Geoffrey Chaucer (yes, that Chaucer), who acts as his hype man. Along the way, William falls in love, wins hearts, and goes toe-to-toe with the sinister Count Adhemar - who's got more issues than a medieval scroll.

Written originally for the screen by Brian Helgeland, who's given this new stage version his full blessing, the film became an early-2000s favourite thanks to its blend of medieval and modern attitude.
